Senate President's Spokesperson, Rt Hon Eseme Eyiboh
A political pressure group in Esit Eket Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Ward Nine New Era, has strongly condemned the purported suspension of Rt Hon Eseme Eyiboh, a former member and spokesperson for the House of Representatives and currently, Special Adviser to the President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Senator Godswill Akpabio, over alleged anti-party activity. Hon Eyiboh, a foundation member of the All Progressives Party and a reform-minded grassroot mobiliser.
Eyiboh’s ‘offence’ is that he on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, joined likeminds in convening a meeting of Stakeholders in Esit Eket Local Government Area to declare support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Ekong Sampson, and the Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Okpolupm Ikpong Etteh.
Although the well-attended Town Hall Meeting brought together people of high political values and even non-partisan indigenes of Esit Eket LGA, Mr Johnny Nsoh, purporting to be acting on behalf of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ward 9 in Esit Eket Chapter, accused Eseme Eyiboh of anti-party activity. Mr Nsoh, in a statement published on social media on Thursday and signed by him and his cohorts, declared Eseme Eyiboh suspended from the party.
However, Ward Nine New Era, the grassroots political organisation for Ward 9 of Esit Eket LGA, on Friday dismissed Eseme Eyiboh’s purported suspension as unreasonable and steeped in malice, indefensible and of no effect whatsoever. The group, in a statement signed on its behalf by two former Ward 9 Councillors and APC chieftains, Hon Okon Bassey Iyanam and Hon Okon Edoho, raised the following posers:
1. Can a mobilisation efforts of a Community-based Stakeholders in support for President Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Pastor Umo Eno and other APC National Assembly members be termed anti-party activity?
2. What is the business of APC Ward 9 Executives in a Local Government Stakeholders' meeting?
3. Was Rt Hon Eseme Eyiboh the only APC person from the Local Government in the said Stakeholders' meeting?
4. The APC as a party having not published, constituted nor inaugurated any ward or chapter Executives nationwide, where does Ward 9 and Esit Eket Chapter of the party derive the standing to query and discipline APC members?
5. APC is a creature and creation of law, can the same party take disciplinary action(s) against its members without following the provisions of its constitution in party discipline and the legal process of FAIR HEARING?
The group dismissed the purported suspension of Eseme Eyiboh as null and void, advising loyal Esit Eket APC members to disregard it in its entirety.
