With just about 48 hours to Christmas, the fuel queues at petrol stations of Nigerians struggling to buy fuel across the country remain psychologically depressing and traumatizing despite NNPC assurances and information that she has increased daily supplies from 30 million litres to 80 million litres.

So if NNPC is claiming to be supplying more than twice the daily consumption requirement of the country, then why are there still queues that have turned petrol stations into a theatre of war?

We must get to the root of this national embarrassment now and thus NNPC is enjoined to publish its supplies quota per state and DPR must also mobilise Nigerians by going all out to arrest hoarding, diversion and sale of products above official price by providing communication channels for citizens’ interface through links for feedback of sharp practices by marketers.

State governments and security agencies must also rise to the occasion by mobilising men and resources to monitor distribution and sale of products such that petrol stations caught hoarding and selling above official pump price are brought to book immediately.

Arresting the fuel queues before Christmas is a national assignment that we must all key into, in order to send a clear message to economic vampires that we will no longer sit idly and be taken for a ride, the time is now!
