By MUFTAU OGUNYEMI
The dismembered body of unknown young lady has been discovered at GRA, off Barrack’s Road, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, Spokesperson of Police Command in Ondo, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday in a statement, said full investigation had been commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Jimoh explained that the command commenced a full-scale investigation following the discovery of the mutilated body of an unidentified woman along Barracks Road, near the GRA Roundabout in Ondo Town.
“On Monday, July 13 at about 9:40 a.m., the command received a report regarding the presence of a lifeless body at the location.
“Acting swiftly on the report, a team of police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the officers discovered the headless body of a female victim. Preliminary observations revealed that several parts of the body had been mutilated.
“Investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identity of the deceased, apprehend those responsible and establish the motive behind the gruesome act,” Jimoh said.
The spokesperson condemned the barbaric act and assured the public that no effort would be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“Members of the public who may have useful information that could assist the investigation are urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency lines.
“The area remains calm and adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents while investigations continue,” he said. (NAN)
