A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday sentenced two persons, Adebiyi Olusola, 49 and Oguntola John, 30 to 30 days imprisonment over public nudity.
The defendants were arraigned on a one-count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace, contrary to Section 181 (1) (d) (h) of the Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.
Both defendants, who were represented by their counsel, Ogunleye Abiola, had pleaded guilty to the charge when read to them.
Delivering his judgement, Magistrate Abayomi Adosun said the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt coupled with accused persons guilty stance and sentenced them accordingly.
He, however, did not give the convicts the option of fine.
Earlier, police prosecutor, Mr Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the convicts committed the offence on July 13, at about 4:00 a.m. at Palace Area, Ado-Ekiti, in the Ado Ekiti Magisterial District.
He said the duo wandered around the palace area and on the public highway naked and in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace. (NAN)
