A section of Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos State, was engulfed in flames on Tuesday evening.
Videos that circulated on social media show thick smoke billowing into the sky from the furniture section of the popular market located near the Ojo local government area secretariat.
An X user, Ikechukwu Ude stated that the fire started from a “little spark’ and quickly spread.
In another video, visibly agitated traders can be seen standing helplessly as fire engulfed their shops.
Some traders can also be seen shedding tears over their losses, just as others ran around trying to salvage goods from their shops to prevent them from being destroyed in the inferno.
A spokesman of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu confirmed the development.
He disclosed that the Ojo fire station responded to the incident. (The Sun)
