Ogun APM Guber candidate, Adekunle Akinlade
A new political group, The Akinlade Mandate Group, has alleged the stealing of the mandate of the governorship candidate of the APM in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, during the March 9, 2019 governorship election.
A statement issued in Abeokuta and signed by the Publicity Secretary, Adeolu Akande, announced the decision of “the 56 Atiku support groups that worked for Adekunle Akinlade during the last governorship election” to fuse form The Akinlade Mandate Group.
Announcing the group’s mission, the statement said: “We have taken this decision in order to ensure that we continue to pursue our goal, doing everything lawfully available so that the mandate popularly given to Hon. Akinlade (the governorship candidate of the APM in Ogun State) by the good people of Ogun State in the just concluded gubernatorial elections is restored
“That we shall not relent on this course until our goal is achieved. We shall continue to take our strength from the popular support of the youths and the good people of Ogun State who displayed their preference and believe in Hon Akinlade through their votes during the elections; and their yearnings after INEC made announcement of election results that was obviously against the will, wish and expectations of our people.
“Thus, the leadership of the group wishes to encourage all members to continue going about our regular duties of lawful publicities, update broadcasts and sensitisation of the public using all available platforms. This we will also take as a call to service for ourselves as our own way to contribute our quota to correct the menaces of vote buying, INEC’s insincerity and rigging, which have all eaten too deep into our polity for too long.”
The statement thanked “the youth and the good people of Ogun State for their continuous support.”
