Nigerian solidarity groups of Venezuela, social movements and activists have denounced what they termed “the criminal sabotage against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” by the United States and European Union.
They in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Secretary, Akande Daniel Babatunde, blamed US President and US allies for the worsening political crisis in Venezuela. “As we write, the crisis in Venezuela is increasing due to Trump and his allies’ intervention in the oil-rich country. We believe that the coup plotted by Trump has failed and the only thing that remains is that the Trump administration is planning come with military intervention,” the statement said.
According to the statement, “Aside from the economic sanctions against the Venezuela government” that have negatively impacted on the living standard of the people and the economic situation in Venezuela, “the United States supported the Assembly President Juan Guaido that declared himself President of Venezuela on 23rd of January while urging President Nicolas Maduro, the constitutional president elected last year May by six million people in a general election, to step down. The United States in 2002 had earlier organised a coup with the support of the military against the late President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez. The US government has successfully installed puppets in many Latin American countries through a coup.
“The opposition puppet to the US with the support of Trump government in US attacked the electrical system of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Thursday, March 7, which caused failures in the provision of the service in 80% of the national territory, causing severe damages and suffering to the people of Venezuela. It was a computer attack produced with high-tech tools that sought to decisively damage the provision of electrical service. We in the Venezuela Solidarity Movement in Nigeria stand against these attacks and call on activists and socialists across the globe to join the struggle against the US government to end the attacks against President Maduro and the people of Venezuela.”
The solidarity groups, which organised a rally at Unity Fountain in Abuja on February 7, 2019”, announced plans “to organise more until the US, European Union and others hands off Venezuela.”
