Niger Governor Abubakar Bello
The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, says the people of his state now await the fulfillment of the campaign promises of President Muhammadu Buhari following his victory at the poll last Saturday.
Governor Bello identified one of the major needs of the state as the establishment of the Bobi Grazing Reserves which is expected to help tackle the problem of farmers/herders clashes in the state.
“There are so many activities which we have lined up in the next level, partnering with the federal government to ensure that we do it,” the governor told Channels Television. “One of such interventions would be the flagging off of the Bobi Grazing Reserve.”
He added, “As you are aware, the herdsmen/farmers crisis has been on the front burner for a while now. We have invested some money to see that we start off a very functional grazing reserve, hoping that it would reduce some of these conflicts between farmers and herdsmen.”
He expressed confidence in the ability of the Federal Government to intervene in the state in the form of projects.
“He has made promises, with regard to Niger State, especially with regard to the rail line between Minna and Abuja which is very important to the economic activity of the state, and so many other interventions that the federal government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, has extended to us here in Niger State,” the governor recalled.
He congratulated President Buhari for his victory, describing it as a victory for Niger State in view of the people’s expectations from him.
The governor also commended the people of the state, particularly the youths, for their peaceful conduct during the elections, and urged them to sustain the same spirit during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
