Anambra Central Senator-Elect Uche Ekwunife
After three days of delay, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mrs. Uche Ekwunife as the winner of Anambra Central Senatorial election held on Saturday
Ekwunife, who ran for the election as a substitute candidate under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contested against the incumbent, Sen Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) – the ruling party in the state – and Sylvester Okonkwo of the federal-ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
The two-time House of Representatives member scored a total of 118,484 votes to defeat the incumbent, who scored a distant 81,429, while Chief Okonkwo scored 10,999 votes.
