Shehu Sani
Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central, has called for cancellation of elections in Kaduna State, particularly Kaduna Central, alleging that security agencies rigged in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) candidate in the election told journalists in Kaduna yesterday that the Saturday election was marred by irregularities, ranging from over-voting, ballot stuffing and intimidation of voters.
Sani, who called for cancellation of the elections irrespective of the outcome, said himself and his party had compiled cases of irregularities across the zone and written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said: “I am formally expressing my opinion on the conduct and outcome of the 2019 elections in Kaduna Central.
“As a gentleman and one with the background of an activist, it is supposed to be a situation whereby if you are not favoured by the elections, you behave like
a good sportsman.
“However, you cannot be a sportsman in an arena of fraud, particularly in Kaduna.”
Similarly, the party’s House of Representatives candidate from Kaduna North, Kassim Balarabe-Musa, has alleged that Saturday’s elections in Kaduna were marred by irregularities.
Speaking on behalf of the party at a press conference in Kaduna, he also called for cancellation of elections in the state because of vote-buying, card readers malfunctioning, and among others.
According to him, legal action will be taken against those involved in election malpractice in the state, as there is evidence against them.
