Senator-elect Ifeanyi Ubah
Oil magnate Ifeanyi Ubah has put a clog in the political ambitions of two brothers, incumbent senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly, Dr Andy Uba, and his younger brother and self-acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Eselu Chris Uba, following his victory in last Saturday’s senatorial election.
Ubah was announced winner of the keenly contested senatorial election in the wee hours of Monday by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ubah, who contested under the platform of Youth Progressive Party (YPP), also defeated Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
News Express reports that Ubah had contested the senatorial primary of APGA but lost the ticket to Ukachukwu before he fell out with the party and moved over to YPP.
Before now, the Anambra South senatorial zone had been under the strong grip of the Ubas since 1999 with the eldest brother, Dr. Ugochukwu, leading the pack while Andy Uba took the baton from him and served two tenures before the younger brother came on board to wrestle the seat from him.
