The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Rabiu Ladodo, has announced the abduction of a presiding officer who is also a youth corps member in Indiokolo unit, Orumba North LGA of Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

Addressing journalists in Awka late Saturday, the police commissioner said the election was generally peaceful following the aerial and vehicular patrols round the state, adding that a significant turnout of voters was also recorded.

Ladodo announced that despite the relative peace recorded, there were few recorded isolated incidents which include ballot box snatching at Onuma Imeobi Square Ward Six Unit 4 Onitsha, vote buying, and disruption of election in some polling units.

According to the commissioner, the State Police Command arrested seven suspects in connection with vote buying and disruption of electoral process while two armed police mobile personnel were nabbed for being on illegal duty.

He said all cases are under investigation at the State CIID, Awka, and that efforts are being intensified to rescue the abducted persons and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 1 mini shuttle bus, 2 Motorcycles, N110,920, 2 handbags containing dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and 2 knives.
