A political pressure group, Omoluabi United, has adduced five reasons why the South West is solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari in his quest for re-election.

Omolaubi United published an advocacy journal, Building Blocks of a New Nigeria, which it distributed at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mega Rally in Lagos on Sunday, February 9, 2019.

Coordinator of Omoluabi United, Adejoke Jones, said the group endorses all the candidates of the APC for the elections. Omoluabi United was a major supporter of the election of the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola.

The reasons for the support of Buhari, the group said, included continuity, consolidation, geopolitics, loyalty and respect.

The group argued that continuity is necessary as history shows that all administrations tend to pick up late and get better with their second terms. It said a second term would enable President Buhari consolidate on the progress already evident in the second half of his first four-year term.

Omoluabi United believes that the geopolitics of the rotation of the presidency dictates that the South-West with its son, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, as Vice President should support President Buhari to run the full course for the North. That way the region would stand a better chance of ascending the presidency.

Its other reasons are loyalty and respect. On loyalty, it stated: “Our Omoluabi ethos dictates that we are loyal to our causes and the people who support them. We value loyalty, integrity and the pursuit of the best interests of our people.

“We support those who have shown in words and actions a commitment to our shared causes.”

The group alleged that “the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) disrespects our values, as reflected in the candidates they present to us and the choices they make. We reject those choices.”

The group, in the publication, called on the South-West electorate to vote APC all the way. They also described the PDP as “Lami-Lami”, the Yoruba word for dragonfly.
