Nigeria’s Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has declared that the terrorism scourge ravaging parts of Nigeria will negatively affect Super Eagles players’ at the Brazil 2014 World Cup which kicks off in six days.

Super Eagles star midfielder Ogenyi Onazi had narrowly escaped death in a terrorist bombing in Jos, North-Central Nigeria, shortly before the team jetted out to begin preparations for the Mundial.

Keshi told ESPN after Nigeria’s pre-World Cup friendly against Greece on Wednesday morning: “The tension in Nigeria is really going to affect my players at the World Cup as some of them have family members and loved ones out there.

“Hearing of any misfortune back home will distract them. However, we’ll be in Brazil to make Nigerians back home happy.

“So, we’ll strive harder on the field of play to get the results.”

Keshi, who spoke at the Philadelphia camp of the Super Eagles, disclosed that CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa is down with injury, while Elderson Echiejile will have a scan on a suspected hamstring injury.

“The doctors have an appointment for an MRI scan for Elderson to know the extent of the problem. We have to wait,” he said,adding:

“(Ahmed) Musa is nursing a little a bit of injury, while Juwon (Oshaniwa) has been out for three, four days with malaria, but he has resumed training.

“Hopefully everybody will be fine before we leave for Brazil.”
