Activist raises serious questions about Police Spokesman Frank Mba’s age and qualifications

A frontline rights activist has raised serious questions about the age and some other claims of the spokesman of the Nigeria Police, Mr. Frank Mba, as contained in his curriculum vitae

Raising doubts about some of Mba’s claims, Comrade Emeka Umeagbalasi, Board Chairman of International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety), wrote in reaction to a News Express story on the controversial Force Public Relations Officer:

“Mr. Mba’s claim of joining NPF at 20 (1992), after he is said to have been born in 1972 needs further forensic inquiry. And they said he is a lawyer. Now did he join the Force at 20 as a lawyer with LLB, BL? Or did he become a lawyer in NPF? How come he is already a CSP at 41 and even thwarted ACP? If he joined the Force as a lawyer, that may mean he joined at ASP cadet level as a graduate. How possible is it for him to have gone to university and come out with a law degree and gone to law school and came out with LLB and went to NYSC and served fully all in twenty years?”

Umegbalasi wondered whether it was “the magic” of being the man Friday of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, “that facilitated his quick promotions that made him to talk and insult his people in the Force?”

Mba has lately been under fire for claiming that Igbo police officers who are alleging discrimination by the Abubakar-led management team, are responsible for their woes as they allegedly prefer to retire to go trading.
