Gallant military troops on the move
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have killed three suspected terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle and 41 livestock during separate operations in Kaduna and Kano states.
The Joint Task Force North-West disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Acting Media Information Officer, Captain Tamuno Sinivie.
The statement said troops of Sector 1 came under attack from armed terrorists on October 29 while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It said the troops responded with superior firepower, repelled the attack and pursued the fleeing assailants, leading to the killing of three terrorists.
The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, three rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle. No casualty was recorded among the troops during the encounter.
In a separate operation on October 30, troops recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep from suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to the statement, the suspects abandoned the animals and fled on sighting the advancing troops.
Efforts were ongoing to hand over the recovered livestock to the appropriate authorities.
The task force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-West, urging residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to support efforts to restore peace and security. (Daily Trust)
