Christians have been charged to live in the light of God and shun acts of darkness in order to enjoy divine direction and blessings.

The charge was given by the Rev. In-charge of ECWA Church Ombi 2 in Lafia during a sermon on Sunday on the topic, “Living in the Light of God.”

The preacher said whoever keeps his light on is the one that walks with God, adding that such a person does not allow anything of the world to distract him.

“To leave your light on you must be free from your sins. If the entire world has this light, all those bad things would not happen,” he said.

He noted that Christians must make sacrifices to keep their light shining, stressing the need to admit that they are sinners and seek genuine repentance.

“People don’t live in the light of God and behave anyhow. As Christians we are supposed to carry this light to unbelievers,” he stated.

Quoting Ephesians Chapter 5 verses 8 to 14, the clergy said it is the responsibility of Christians to expose the activities of the devil and extend the light of God to sinners.

“We must extend same light to them, they cannot do anything good because they lack the light. Let’s examine ourselves to see if the light is shining. At times we believe in the light but we don’t extend to others,” he said.

He urged believers to avoid lies and live holy lives at all times and wherever they find themselves, noting that light represents God.

According to him, benefits of walking in the light include divine blessings in all endeavours, God’s direction and clarity, good relationship with God, peace of mind, protection and freedom as taught by Christ’s apostles in the Bible.
