Four men, Abdulmajeed Yahaya, Biliaminu Sidi, Mansur Usman and Aminu Wadatau, who allegedly damaged All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign posters, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendants, Yahaya, 30; Sidi, 25; Usman, 22; and Wadatau, 26, were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Mrs Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants and others still at large committed the offences on Aug. 30, at about 1.12 p.m., at Mile 2, Lagos, within the Lagos Magisterial District.

She alleged that the defendants conspired and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by wilfully damaging APC campaign posters.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants wilfully and maliciously damaged the APC campaign posters, whose value was yet to be ascertained.

She said the alleged offences contravened Sections 168, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The four defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted each defendant bail of N500,000, with two reliable sureties in like sum.

The court adjourned the case until Nov. 25 for further proceedings. (NAN)
