The Jigawa State Government has declared Thursday, August 27, 2026, a work-free day to mark the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The declaration, contained in a statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, is aimed at giving residents and public servants the opportunity to commemorate the milestone, reflect on the state’s journey and offer prayers for its continued peace and development.
The government urged citizens across the state to participate in special prayer sessions at Jum’ah mosques as part of activities marking the anniversary.
It congratulated the people of Jigawa on the 35th anniversary and called on them to use the occasion to thank Almighty Allah for the peace, stability and progress recorded since the state was created.
According to the statement, the work-free day will enable residents to participate fully in anniversary activities and communal prayers without the distraction of official duties.
The Head of Service also urged citizens to reflect on Jigawa’s achievements over the past 35 years while praying for greater development, unity and prosperity in the years ahead.
The government stressed that the anniversary is not only a celebration of Jigawa’s history but also an opportunity to renew the collective commitment to building a more peaceful, united and prosperous state.
“This move reflects our commitment to honoring our unique history and promoting community spirit among our people,” the statement said.
The government therefore called on all Jigawa residents to mark the anniversary peacefully and use the occasion to pray for the continued progress of the state and Nigeria. (Arise News)
