Nasarawa state Governor, Abdullahi Sule has ordered the immediate arrest and and prosecution of health Workers allegedly involvement in the selling of hospital equipment in Umaisha Administrative Area Council of Toto local government area of the state.

The equipment were donated by a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Umaisha/Ugya.

The governor described the act as inhuman and the highest form of corruption, lack of sympathy for and consideration for people who are sick.

Governor Sule gave the order while inaugurating the eight new Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries and board members at the Aliyu Akwe -Doma Banquet hall Government House, Lafia.

His words, “A very honorable member from Umaisha/ Ugya recently bought a lot of mattresses and all kinds of fans, standing fans, ceiling fans, and the rest of that because he was concerned about what his local primary healthcare was undergoing,”

“Few days back, he returned there and discovered that the officials of the hospital had actually sold those items, this is a terrible thing that will happen if you have people who do not mean well for Nasarawa State. I am waiting for the honorable commissioner, and I expect that report by the end of this week.”

It would be recalled that member representing Umaisha/Ugya Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi-Sa’ad, had on Monday confronted staff of General Hospital Umaisha over items he said he donated to the facility which could not be accounted for.

In a video of the exchange that has since gone viral, the visibly angry lawmaker accused the hospital of failing to produce 50 orthopedic mattresses, 50 ceiling fans and 40 standing fans he said he bought with his personal money for patients.

“Doctor, you remember the last time I spoke with you about those orthopedic mattresses? You remember what you told me?… For Allah’s sake, don’t allow me to get upset,” he added.

The lawmaker further demanded to know the whereabouts of the electrical appliances.

“Where are the ceiling fans? Where are the ceiling fans? I bought more than 50 ceiling fans! The standing fans, I bought about 40! Where are they?” he asked.

While expressing deep concern over the condition of patients at the hospital, Abdullahi-Sa’ad explained that he was told the mattresses were being moved round the wards and insisted on being shown them. (Arise News)
