Policeman
A Nigerian police officer, Superintendent Musa Muhammad Adamu, has sparked emotional reactions online after a video surfaced showing him appealing for urgent medical assistance years after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during an operation against terrorists in Kaduna State.
The officer revealed that he was shot five times in 2021 while on active duty and has since undergone several unsuccessful surgeries as his health condition continues to deteriorate.
In the viral video shared on X, Adamu lamented that despite writing several letters and appeals to relevant authorities, he has allegedly received no meaningful support for the life-threatening injuries he sustained in service.
According to him, eight surgeries carried out so far have failed to remove all complications linked to the gunshot wounds, leaving him in severe pain and in need of advanced medical treatment.
The officer said he had dedicated his life to protecting Nigerians during security operations against terrorists, but now feels abandoned while struggling to survive and fund further treatment.
The development has triggered outrage across social media, with many Nigerians criticising the alleged neglect of security personnel injured in the line of duty and calling on the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Government to intervene urgently.
Several users also raised concerns about the welfare system for wounded officers, arguing that personnel risking their lives for national security deserve adequate medical care and institutional support.
The video has continued to gain traction online as calls grow for immediate assistance and proper treatment for the injured superintendent. (The Guardian)
