Ahead of the state and National Assembly elections in Anambra State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) has tightened its noose on the procedure for the emergence of persons to fly its flag during the elections, insisting that all aspirants must present the original copies of their certificates and voters card to be able to go through the party’s screening exercise.
Confirming the development as issued by the party leadership in a statement, APGA National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, said that the status quo remains, saying that the party will not reverse it.
He said: "Strict compliance with the requirements is necessary to ensure transparency and credibility in the screening process.
“The party directed aspirants to present the original copies of their highest academic qualifications for physical verification, alongside their original PVCs to confirm eligibility and membership status.
“Any aspirant who fails to present both documents will not be admitted into the screening hall.”
The statement further warned that photocopies and affidavits would not be accepted as substitutes for the required documents.
While noting that the screening exercise remains free, the party cautioned aspirants against making payments to individuals under any guise, adding, “Please comply strictly to avoid disqualification at the gate.”
The directive has reportedly generated a lot of anxiety among some aspirants who fear possible disqualification if they are unable to meet the requirements before the screening exercise.
Information has it that some aspirants who may be affected by the directive are reportedly making efforts to persuade the party leadership to reconsider its position.
