Peter Obi, Tinubu, Atiku
Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has explained why the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, could defeat President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Sam Amadi said the electoral map does not guarantee victory for either Tinubu or Atiku, arguing that Obi’s growing support among Nigerian youths could give him an advantage.
He said Tinubu entered the 2023 election with the perception that he had Lagos State firmly behind him, despite limited campaigning in the state.
According to Amadi, Obi’s support base has continued to grow, particularly among young Nigerians seeking an alternative political leadership.
Amadi also based his prediction on the support Obi received during the 2023 presidential election, arguing that if the election had been free, fair and credible, Obi would have emerged as President.
“There is this sense that Nigeria needs something new, and the restiveness and disruption during the 2020 EndSARS incident is a milestone for Obi.
“In the last election, Peter Obi had almost more than half of the electorate on his side. There were clear indications that he won in Rivers, Plateau and some Northern states but INEC didn’t declare him winner,” Amadi said. (Nigerian Tribune)
