The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, a Lagos indigene with businesses in Lagos and Abuja, wanted over an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence.
In a notice issued by the anti-graft agency on Monday, April 27, 2026, and signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, the Commission said that the 41-year-old Tejuosho is being sought in connection with the alleged offence.
“The public is hereby notified that Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence,” the notice read.
Earlier this year, Halimat Adenike Tejuosho was in the news in January when News Express Publisher, Mr. Isaac Umunna, was reported to have written to her, demanding a written apology and a billion naira for alleged defamation and unjust disruption of business operations.
In a demand letter dated 30th December, 2025, Umunna, through his lawyers, accused Dr. Tejuosho of lying to News Express’ domain name registrant, HostAfrica, as a result of which the newspaper’s domain name was suspended on September 1, 2025, thus unjustly disrupting the paper’s operations for several hours.
The suspect, the Founder of Haleems Integrated Services Limited, has not been seen since then.
However, recent reports said that she had been appointed as the South-West Zonal Women Leader of the City Boys Movement promoting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. The role requires her to provide strategic leadership for women-focused initiatives, including political mobilisation, civic engagement, and advocacy across the South-West region.
According to the EFCC, the suspect’s last known address is House A26, Aso Grove Estate, Maitama Extension, Abuja. However, her permanent address is in the Sangotedo area of Lagos.
EFCC called on members of the public to assist with information that could lead to her arrest.
“Anybody with useful information as to her whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices,” the statement added.
It also urged the public to reach out through its official communication channels or report to the nearest police station and other security agencies. (Partly based on The PUNCH report)
