The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has formally announced her bid to return to the Senate, signalling the start of early political activity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the district.

She made the declaration on Monday during a meeting with PDP stakeholders in Kogi Central, where party leaders and supporters gathered to assess the party’s direction ahead of the next election cycle.

Details of the development were contained in a statement released by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mike Idoko, who said the meeting drew key figures across the district to discuss the party’s future at a time of shifting political alignments.

Addressing the gathering, the lawmaker linked her decision to months of engagement with constituents across the five local government areas.

“After due consultations and encouragement from my lovely husband, I am here to say I have accepted your calls to re-contest for my second term as your senator,” she declared to resounding applause.

She also used the opportunity to call for unity within the party, cautioning against internal divisions as preparations for future elections gather pace.

“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had one issue or another, for the betterment of our party and the success of our elections ahead,” she urged.

Speaking at the meeting, the PDP Kogi Central Zonal Chairman, Anthony Akuvada, praised the senator’s record in office, describing her as a leader who has made a visible impact in the district.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has redefined representation in Kogi Central. Her performance in office has been nothing short of exemplary, from infrastructural development to human capital empowerment,” Akuvada said.

He highlighted her accessibility and connection with constituents as strengths that have helped build trust within the party.
