Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua
Heavyweight boxing could finally be set for one of its most anticipated clashes after Tyson Fury publicly called out long-time rival Anthony Joshua following his latest victory.
Fury, 37, issued the challenge on Saturday night after securing a unanimous decision win over Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
With Joshua watching from ringside, the self-styled “Gypsy King” wasted no time in turning his attention to a bout that has eluded fans for over a decade.
Taking the microphone moments after his win, Fury directly addressed Joshua, urging him to agree to what he described as the “Battle of Britain.”
“I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua. Let’s give the fight fans what they want — the Battle of Britain,” Fury declared. “I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept my challenge?”
The moment quickly escalated as Joshua stepped forward with a fiery response, signaling both willingness and confidence ahead of a potential blockbuster showdown.
“Tyson, you are a clout-chaser. I’ve never had any problem getting in the ring with you — I punched you up as kids [in training],” Joshua said. “Watching you tonight, I’ll punch you up again.
“With all due respect, tonight is your night. But you won’t tell me what to do. I’ve been chasing you for the last 10 years. When you’re ready, you come and see me with your terms and conditions.
“I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord.”
The exchange has reignited hopes of finally delivering a fight that British boxing fans have long demanded, with both fighters now appearing publicly aligned on making the bout happen.
Fury’s latest win strengthens his position in the heavyweight division, while Joshua — who currently holds a record of 29 wins and four losses — is seeking redemption after suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
Despite years of failed negotiations and near-misses, the latest confrontation between the two rivals has added fresh momentum to talks, with promoters and fans alike eager to see if 2026 will finally deliver the long-awaited showdown.
