Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi
The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a case of conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm, and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms in Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State.
The arrests followed a petition written and addressed to the Commissioner of Police concerning the alleged offences.
“On 9 August 2026, at about 0200 hours, police operatives apprehended the following suspects in Modakeke: (1) Olufemi Olatunji, male, 39 years, (2) Ajayi Idowu, male, 31 years, (3) Akingbala Oluwakemi, female, 40 years and (4) Adekunle Basirat, female, 40 years,” a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, partly read.
The Command said that during searches conducted at the suspects’ residences and premises, two firearms were recovered.
“One cut-to-size locally made firearm was recovered from the shop of Adekunle Basirat, identified as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, alias “Indomine,” the police said. “Also, one pump-action firearm was recovered from the residence of Akingbala Oluwakemi, identified as the wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias “Ostand.”
The suspects, the PPRO said, are currently in police custody and are assisting the police with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large and bring them to justice.
Similarly, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Command also arrested six suspected members of an allegedly “unlawful society” for conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, having received information that some armed hoodlums invaded the campus with dangerous weapons and injured two students on the school premises.
“The police operative swung into action and arrested the following suspects: Ajoba Akorede ‘m’ 27yrs, Adam Oseni ‘m’ 27yrs, Ogunrinde Ayomide ‘m’ 21yrs, Ogunlana Muheez ‘m’ 26yrs, Ajose Noah ‘m’ 25yrs and Adeniyi Damola ‘m’ 25yrs.
“During the course of interrogation, Ajoba Akorede and Adam Oseni confessed to being members of Aye confraternity. Investigation is still on; all suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The Osun State Police Command urged members of the public to continue providing the police with credible and timely information that can assist in preventing and combating crime. (Channels TV)
