Tompolo, Comr Ukueku
The National President of the Niger Delta Youth For Good Governance (NDYFGG), Comr. Lucky O.O Ukueku, has felicitated High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birthday anniversary.
Ukueku, the first elected former National President of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Scholarship Students Worldwide, described Tompolo as a man “sent by God to redeem the Niger Delta during the time of intimidation and humiliation.”
In a statement personally signed by him in Abuja on Sunday, the youth leader described Tompolo as a man who detests criminality and oppression and has consistently fought against injustice.
“He has paved the way for countless people to become millionaires and billionaires in Nigeria and the Niger Delta. His legacy will forever be celebrated,” Ukueku stated.
“Though I have not benefited from him directly, I deeply admire and appreciate him for his benevolence toward many I have encountered. He is a man of integrity and humility. Words alone are not enough to describe how remarkable he is,” he added.
Ukueku described Tompolo as a role model because of his selfless commitment to raising others who, in turn, empower more people. “For this reason, I call on all Nigerians, especially the people of the Niger Delta, to join me in celebrating the No. 1 citizen of the Niger Delta, a man I regard as the first son of the Niger Delta,” he said.
According to Ukueku, at 55, Tompolo has made an impact comparable to that of a centenarian, given the reverence his name commands across the region.
“All I wish him is long life, good health, and greater wisdom to continue carrying the rest of us along,” he noted.
The NDYFGG President urged those reading the tribute to ensure it reaches Tompolo, stating that leaders should also be shown messages of appreciation to encourage them, not just criticism. “Leaders should be encouraged when they do well,” he said.
Ukueku concluded by expressing gratitude to God for Tompolo’s life and for “giving the Niger Delta a leader like Tompolo.”
