The Anti-Cult Alliance Movement (ACAM) has announced a partnership with the Nigeria Police Force aimed at addressing insecurity, cultism, and alleged misconduct within the police.
In a press release dated March 26, 2026, and signed by its National Leader, Akin Okunowo, the group said the collaboration was designed to strengthen community-based intelligence and support ongoing security efforts across the country.
“The escalating insecurity in Nigeria demands collective action. We must transcend criticism and activate our community intelligence networks to protect our nation now,” the statement read.
ACAM said the initiative would focus on combating cultism and other forms of criminal activity, while also monitoring the conduct of security operatives to promote accountability.
“ACAM has forged a radical partnership with the Nigeria Police leadership to combat the insecurity bedeviling our society and to totally check the misconduct of police officers,” Okunowo stated.
“This collaboration aims to drive reform, ensure a safer Nigeria where human rights are respected, lives and properties are protected, and we can collectively combat the growing menace of cultism and all forms of terrorism,” he added.
The group called on citizens and activists to support the initiative by providing information to security agencies and reporting incidents of misconduct.
“We urge all activists and citizens to support this initiative by sharing information to fight crime and monitor our security agencies,” the statement said.
“If you have complaints, useful information to police, or other genuine concerns, do not hesitate to share. Confidentiality assured,” it added.
ACAM also reaffirmed its position on safeguarding civil liberties while supporting law enforcement efforts.
“ACAM remains committed to supporting our security agencies fighting crime and corruption while upholding and not compromising our fundamental rights to expression, association, and protest,” Okunowo said.
Encouraging public participation, the group urged Nigerians to reject cultism and engage in efforts to improve security nationwide.
“Join us now. Report misconduct or security concerns. Renounce cultism, a destructive force threatening our nation. Your future, family, and nation depend on your actions,” the statement concluded.
The Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official response confirming the details of the reported partnership as of press time.
