Gov Okpebholo
Edo State Government has said it remained committed to return disputed land to indigenous owners of Oke Oroma community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the State after completion of the layout process.
It said Governor Monday Okpebholo has directed expedite actions to fast-track completion of the layout.
Commissioner of Land and Housing, Hon. Vincent Uwadia, who spoke during an inspection tour to monitor progress on the land return efforts.
Uwadia said the state government was satisfied with the conduct of the layout work by the state surveyors even as he promised that the state government would stand by its decision.
“We are happy with what we have seen on the ground and the work is going on well. We are very impressed. From time to time we have to be coming more regularly than we used to do so that within a short period we should be able to return the land to the people.”
Head of the Community, Pa Gaius Emokpae, reiterated the community’s earlier request for return of their ancestral land.
Represented by the Community Public Relations Officer, Owie Festus Daniel, Pa Emokpae commended the Governor on recently giving out earth grading. Equipment and tractors to all LGAs in the state.
He said the community would explore reaching out to chairman of Ikpoba-Okha with a view to soliciting his help to fastrack the layout process. (The Nation)
