Neptune Prime Network Nigeria Limited has unveiled the Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ), with applications set to open for its September 2026 admission as the institution begins the sale of application forms for prospective students seeking careers in journalism, media and content creation.

According to a statement issued by Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ), the institute, founded by veteran journalist and Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of Neptune Prime Network Nigeria Limited, Dr Hassan Gimba, ANIPR, is designed to train individuals passionate about storytelling and media practice. The institute said applications would be accepted through its website for programmes including Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies, Certificate in Mass Communication and Media Practice, Certificate in Content Creation (English) and Certificate in Content Creation (Hausa). It added that the programmes are tailored to equip participants with practical, industry-relevant skills needed in today’s media industry.

“All programmes are designed to equip participants with practical, industry-relevant skills,” the institute said, adding that the courses are aimed at producing journalists, media professionals and content creators capable of meeting the demands of the evolving media landscape.

The institute said it has assembled a team of experienced professionals from journalism, academia, law, administration and business to provide leadership and ensure quality training for students.

“Dedicated to delivering quality education and guided by a vision of excellence in learning and student enrollment, the Institute has assembled a team of seasoned professionals from diverse fields,” the statement noted.

NPIJ said its governing board is headed by its Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr Hassan Gimba, and includes veteran journalists, communication experts, researchers, legal practitioners, business leaders and academics.

Among those listed on the board are former Nigerian Television Authority General Manager and Executive Director Garba Mamu, who chairs the Advisory Board; former Nigeria Union of Journalists National Secretary Shu’aibu Usman Leman as Vice Chairman I; Shettima Bukar Imam as Vice Chairman II; and Abuja-based lawyer Suleiman Gimba Hassan as Vice Chairman III.

Other members include communication scholar Dr Rachael O. Ojeka-John; Newsdiaryonline Publisher and President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Danlami R. Nmodu; veteran editor Dr Saleh Mari Maina; multimedia journalist Halima Abdulrauf; journalist Gift Luckson; Acting Registrar Aminu Abubakar Sadiq; Assistant Registrars Lilian Hosea and Tawheed Yakub; as well as scholar and author Charles Onunaiju and Mohammed Salisu Adamu.

“Led by its Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr Hassan Gimba, ANIPR, the Institute’s governing board comprises renowned veteran journalists, communication experts, writers, researchers, legal and administrative professionals, business leaders, and distinguished academics,” the statement added.

The institute said prospective students can obtain further information and submit applications through its official website ahead of the September 2026 admission cycle.
