Victor Osimhen
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a €130 million bid to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to reports in Turkey, the Gunners have identified the Galatasaray star as the “missing piece” in Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of Premier League and European titles.
Osimhen has attracted renewed attention across Europe following his outstanding performances since completing a €75 million permanent move to Galatasaray last summer.
The Nigerian forward has established himself as one of the game’s most prolific strikers and is now among the most sought-after attackers ahead of the next transfer window.
Impressive season in Turkey
The 27-year-old Super Eagles striker has enjoyed a prolific campaign in Turkey, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 27 appearances across all competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.
His performances in both domestic and European matches have placed him firmly back on the radar of Europe’s elite clubs seeking attacking reinforcements.
Arsenal seeking attacking solution
Arteta is reportedly keen to add a proven centre-forward capable of leading the line as Arsenal continue their push for major domestic and European honours.
Although the Gunners strengthened their attack last summer by signing Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP for €66 million, the Swedish striker has fallen short of expectations.
Also, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have struggled to consistently establish themselves as the team’s primary goal threat.
Potential squad reshuffle
To finance a potential move for Osimhen, Arsenal could consider selling players, with Gabriel Jesus reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Italy and Brazil.
Osimhen has also made a significant impact in Europe this season, contributing seven goals and three assists in nine Champions League matches, alongside 11 goals and four assists in the Turkish Süper Lig.
His contract with Galatasaray runs until June 2029, and his valuation has reportedly surged following his impressive form, meaning any potential deal would represent a major financial commitment for the North London club. (BusinessDay)
