RCCG General Overseer, pastor Adeboye
The General Overseer, The Redeemed Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has recounted how a woman surprised him with a Mercedes Benz car gift when he was still commuting by bus.
Adeboye made the disclosure at the church’s thanksgiving service while discussing his handling of expensive gifts earlier in his ministry.
He said after the elderly woman presented the gift, he thought she wanted to put him in trouble.
“I almost said, ‘Alakoba wo le leyi?’ I hope this one is not trying to get me into trouble,” he said.
Adeboye said he initially packed the car in his house and refused to use it until God prevailed on him not to reject the woman’s generosity.
“Why are you robbing my daughter of her blessing? She sowed a seed, and you are not allowing the seed to germinate,” he said God told him.
He said he followed God’s instruction by giving the car to his deputy, Pastor Abiodun, to use.
The GO said Pastor Abiodun declined and urged him to enjoy it himself but he insisted on giving it away.
Adeboye said he received three additional Mercedes Benz car gifts shortly after.
He said he was still considering what to do with the vehicles when another man came to present a six-door limousine gift to him.
He recounted, “I said to God, ‘Even if I die and they put me in this car, I will wake up. Will you permit me to sell the car?’”
He said during prayers, God gave him the permission to sell off the car and he sold it off and used the proceeds to procure motorcycles for his pastors.
“I remember I sold it and used the money to buy motorcycles for my pastors,” he explained. (The Sun)
