Ambassador-designate Florence Ajimobi
Florence Ajimobi, Ambassador-designate and widow of former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has declared that the 2027 general election will be fiercely contested in the State, describing the upcoming polls as a “war” and insisting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “must go”.
Ajimobi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, made the declaration in a viral video on social media while addressing journalists at a political gathering, where she expressed confidence in her party’s readiness to challenge the PDP at both the state and federal levels.
“We’re going to war in 2027. It’s going to be a head-on war. PDP must go. Whatever they want to do, whatever tricks they want to try, all power belongs to God, but we are going to beg God and we are going to fight them,” she said.
She further asserted that her party has strong backing at the federal level, including financial and institutional support, which she said would counter any advantage held by the opposition at the state level.
“They have money in the state, we have money at the federal level. We have all the support we need. We are not going to be intimidated. So let them get ready for us. We are ready for them,” Ajimobi added.
The remarks have sparked reactions among netizens, with some warning against the use of war-like rhetoric in Nigeria’s democratic process, while others see the comments as a demonstration of political determination ahead of the 2027 elections. (LEADERSHIP)
