The Gombe State Police Command on Wednesday arrested a 15-year-old boy, Abubakar Aliyu, of Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out a series of armed robberies and thefts within the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe Metropolis.
The suspect, according to the police, was apprehended following a swift investigation launched after a robbery incident reported on October 15, 2025.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a statement, stated that the arrest led to the recovery of valuable items, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple MacBook laptop, Apple Watch, Oraimo Power Bank, and a pink school bag.
According to the statement, “On October 15, 2025, at about 1100hrs, a female resident of Federal Low-Cost, Gombe, reported that on the same date, at about 0230hrs, she was attacked by an unknown person armed with a knife who robbed her of her personal belongings. These include an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at N800,000, an Apple MacBook laptop valued at N250,000, an Apple Watch valued at N35,000, an Oraimo Power Bank valued at N30,000, and a pink school bag valued at N25,000.”
Abdullahi said operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters immediately swung into action, which led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of all the stolen items.
“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime,” he said. “He further revealed that on 8th October, 2025, he conspired with one Hadi (surname unknown), now at large, and broke into another female victim’s residence at Federal Low-Cost, where they stole several items.”
Abdullahi listed the stolen items from the second burglary as including “a Samsung Fold 3 valued at N800,000, a Black View Tab 80 valued at N140,000, two rings worth N40,000, a counter valued at N20,000, and a car key.”
He added that some of the items, such as the Samsung Fold 3 and Tab 80 Black View, have already been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commended the officers for their quick response and professionalism, describing the arrest as a “significant breakthrough” in the command’s fight against violent crime.
“The command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state. “I urge members of the public to support the police by providing timely and useful information that can aid in the prevention and detection of crimes,” the CP said.
He further advised residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station. (The PUNCH, but headline rejigged)
