The State Working Committee, SWC, of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rivers State chapter, has suspended two senior officers of the party over alleged gross misconduct and impersonation.
The communique disclosed this in a communique signed by seven officials of the party, including the Chairman, Leader Sokebari Sampson and Secretary, Hon. Eke Iheanyi Eugene, after an emergency meeting of the party’s SWC in Port Harcourt.
Reading a communique, ADC’s Publicity Secretary in the State, Chief Luckyman Egila, stated that the party, after an extensive study of the actions of the senior officers, resolved to suspend the State Deputy Chairman of the party, Engr. Ode Lawrence Egbagiri with immediate effect from all party activities for unilaterally and without authorization instituting legal proceedings in the name of the party.
He noted that the Deputy Chairman’s actions were in clear breach of the party’s constitution.
The SWC also suspended the State Auditor of the party, Hon. Cyril Awzata, for the offence of consistently impersonating the office of the state Secretary of the party, Hon. Eugene, stating that Hon. Awzata’s false representation and unauthorized media engagements were in breach of the party constitution and have caused confusion among the members and the public.
Egila said the suspended officers, according to the document, have been referred to the state disciplinary committee headed by the Deputy Legal Adviser of the party, Barr. Opuapunamenji Benibo for further investigations and disciplinary action.
The spokesman, while advising the public to disregard any statements and activities by the suspended individuals, also warned its members to desist from all actions and conduct that could bring the party into disrepute.
He, however, stated the party’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, discipline and transparency within its fold
Egila noted that the ADC would not participate in the planned Local Government Area elections in the state, describing the process as illegal and unconstitutional. (Sunday Vanguard)
