The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that it will support any presidential aspirant who wins the party’s primaries.
The party stated this in a press release issued to newsmen in Owerri, Imo State capital, by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Kingsley Onochie.
Onochie debunked earlier reports claiming that the Imo ADC Chapter had thrown its weight behind Peter Obi and called for his adoption as the party’s candidate.
He further stated that it was wrong for some media houses to report that Imo ADC was supporting Obi. He insisted that it was improper for the media to suggest the party was backing a particular presidential aspirant.
According to Onochie, “Once a candidate emerges at the primaries, he would enjoy our support.”
He assured Nigerians that the leadership of the party was working to ensure a rancour-free presidential primaries.
The Imo ADC, under Prof. James Okoroma, is gathering momentum. Members of the Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and All Progressives Congress (APC) have been joining ADC in droves.
Onochie assured the people of Imo State that ADC would usher in a new lease of life for them in the state. (Daily Sun)
