•Widow weeps as wares seized, thrown away
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Some operatives of the Anti-cult security network of the Anambra State Government have allegedly cut the hand of a two-year-old baby in a market in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was said to have taken place last Friday, July 4, 2025.
Though the video reporting the incident did not show the baby, it showed anti-cult operatives on an operation in the area. The video seen by News Express also showed an unidentified widow who sells fuel in gallons for a living in the area, who cried out of deep pain over the treatment meted out to her by the State Government security agents.
The Incident attracted sympathisers who made frantic efforts to pacify the woman, whose young son returned from school to witness his mother’s agony.
A video showed the woman narrating the incident to bystander, saying: “The Aka Odo” people (meaning pestle people) came, carried the 90 liters of fuel I had for Sale, opened the gallon and poured it away on the ground, then went away with the remaining 30 litres.
“I’m a widow. This is what I use to feed my family. Nobody will give me. Ndi Aka Odo just came here and threw away my fuel for doing nothing, for doing nothing, I’m a widow, I’m a widow.”
Meanwhile, a man seen in the video narrating the incident said that the Anti-cult security operatives were having issues with the community vigilante security and that led to the incident.
Though he could not state the cause of the fracas between the two security, he said the anti-cult operatives also destroyed cars.
A resident of the area, Jideofor Okoye, who spoke with News Express, said the misunderstanding between Obosi community security and the anti-cult borders on supremacy.
He said: "The Obosi community security wants to be in charge of security in their community without any external interference and then, call in the superior security when need be.
