The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) has issued a strict advisory to all Kaduna pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj, warning them to comply with luggage weight limits and a void carrying prohibited items as preparations begin for their return to Nigeria.
Chairman of the Weighing Committee and member of the Hajj 2025 Special Committee, Professor Mustapha Gwadabe, disclosed that each pilgrim must adhere to the approved 32kg for main luggage and 8kg for hand luggage, warning that any violation could cause delays or denied boarding.
“We have installed weighing machines at all pilgrims’ lodges in Makkah to help them confirm their luggage weight before the official weighing,” he said.
He also issued a clear warning that excess luggage will not be tolerated by the Saudi authorities or the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Pilgrims with excess items are advised to use NAHCON-approved cargo handlers.
Additionally, Professor Gwadabe reminded pilgrims that items such as sharp objects, scissors, toy guns, knives, and flammable materials are strictly prohibited in hand luggage.
On the issue of Zamzam water, he clarified that five litres have already been transported to Nigeria for each pilgrim and will be distributed at the Hajj Camp upon arrival.
Pilgrims were advised not to attempt carrying Zamzam water or perfumes in aerosol cans on their flight.
“These aircraft have safety limits and cannot afford overloading. Non-compliance endangers all passengers and may lead to flight delays,” Gwadabe stressed.
The Kaduna pilgrims are expected to begin their return journey home in the coming days as part of NAHCON’s post-Hajj airlift operation.
