Chief Executive Officer of Winhomes Global Services, Stella Okengwu, has rejected Works Minister, David Umahi’s defamatory claims against her company.

Okengwu dismissed Umahi’s claims that the company owned undeveloped ‘bare land’ and was not tax-compliant.

“These are lies. We have invested $250million in that estate and we pay our taxes in full,” says Okengwu.

In a video circulating on social media, he claimed that the Ministry of Works illegally demolished the N250 million estate in Okun Ajah, Lagos, despite having necessary documentation.

“We have invested over N250 million in that estate, and we pay our taxes in full. What the minister is doing is not just illegal, it is criminal,” Okengwu said.

Okengwu gave her support to the coastal highway but accused Umahi of weaponising state power to demolish their property.

He alleged that ministry officials diverted the road alignment to favour politically connected landowners.

“They cleared the debris — to erase evidence. This wasn’t just demolition. It was a coordinated cover-up,” she alleged.

Okengwu appealed to President Bola Tinubu to act on this.

The Lagos-Calabar Highway project has sparked criticism from legal experts, diaspora stakeholders, and human rights groups.

The project’s completion is expected to take eight years, covering a 700km stretch.

Umahi, during the recent inauguration of the Lekki-Epe Deep Seaport road, demanded that the CEO show proof that the investment was actually made. (The Nation, but headline rejigged)
