Delta State Polytechnic gate
A vigilante member in Ogwashi-Uku, Mr Ike Peter, has allegedly killed a student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Peter Eyorowalebo, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the vigilante member stormed the student’s house on Wednesday morning and allegedly killed the student while reading and preparing for exams
Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has ordered the arrest of the suspect.
He said, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has immediately ordered the arrest of one Ike Peter, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Ogwashi-Uku, who allegedly shot and killed a student of Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic, one Peter Eyorowalebo, aged 29 years old.
“Today, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the DPO Ogwashi-Uku received a distress call that the suspect, Ike Peter, a member of vigilante group of Nigeria, shot and killed the victim in his room while he was reading and preparing for exams.
“The DPO swiftly mobilised to the scene and found the victim in a pool of his blood. The deceased was taken to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“His body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. The Suspect, Peter Ike, was immediately arrested, and on the instructions of the commissioner of Police, the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.”
He said that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the State Criminal Investigation Department, to take over the case and ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out.
While condoling with the family of the deceased and students of the polytechnic, Olufemi advised students to remain calm, as no stone will be left unturned, assuring them of justice. (The PUNCH, excluding headline)
