The wife of Ebonyi state governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has empowered a total of 195 women in the state to be self-reliant.

Those empowered includes sixty-five persons on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), one hundred and thirty women on fashion design, hair dressing among other skills.

This was part of activities during the official flagged-off of the 2024 Ebonyi Women August Meeting held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki at the weekend.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Nwifuru, encouraged women to build their homes in such a way that it would be manifested in the society,

This year’s August meeting titled “Wise woman Build a Home” advised mothers that, “If you make a good home, our society will be a peaceful one”.

Earlier, the state governor, Francis Nwifuru Lauded Ebonyi state women especially the wives of the former governors for their support to his administration.

Nwifuru enjoined mothers to be mindful of their family responsibilities and tasked them to ensure they train their children with their local dialect and tradition of the people for the interest of the state.

On her part, the wife of the former governor, Mrs Eunice Egwu appreciated governor Nwifuru for being women friendly and encouraged mothers to be mentors to their children.
