Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter has expressed profound grief over the sudden death of the Senator representing Anambra South at the red chambers of the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah died in a London hotel on Saturday morning, July 25, 2024 at the age of 52.
In a condolence message signed by the state Chairman, Chimezie Anaso, SWAN described Ubah's sudden demise as a big blow to sports in general, particularly, football, not just in the Anambra, but the country at large.
The association recalled that through Ubah's involvement in sports, many youths got fame and fortune as well as joy to the hearts of not just sports lovers in Anambra but the entire country.
It added: It is hard to say goodbye this early, our dear distinguished senator, we had looked forward to your continued impactful involvement in football.
You bestrode the landscape of football in Anambra like a colossus and your footprints are indelible. You took Anambra to the world with FC Ifeanyi Ubah, your massive FCIU Stadium, Nnewi remains a legacy that will last for a long time.
As a body of sports writers in Anambra, we will miss you greatly just as we pray that your soul find rest in the bosom of the Lord Almighty."
Recall that Ubah was the chairman of Anambra State Football Association between 2015-2019 and Founder of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, one of the most successful football clubs from the State, now (defunct).
He was a philanthropist, a politician, two time senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and one of the top contenders in Anambra 2025 governorship race
