The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two young men in connection with culpable homicide and kidnapping.

Speaking to newsmen in Yola, the Command Spokesman of the Police, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the accused confessed to having abducted the 6-year-old boy, Ebuka Godwin, in order to raise money for food.

The suspects are Husseini Suleiman, 21 and Muktar Mohammed, 20, who hail from Bashin village in Yoro LGA of Taraba State and committed the crime in Ganye LGA in Adamawa State.

The accused who were pursuing their Islamic Education at Shiek Dahiru Ganye “Tsangaya school in Ganye, narrated that they had decided to kidnap their victim known as Ebuka Godwin in order to collect ransom from their parents to buy food.

Husseini said that they cut sticks and made them look like guns which they used and storm the residence of the father of the deceased in early May 2024 and whisked away their victim.

After kidnapping the boy, the suspects called his father via GSM and demanded N10 million as ransom as well as N152,000 from him as a feeding fee which he gave them the fee.

According to them, after collecting the money for food, they strangulated their victim buried his dead body in the sand and left and bought new phones with part of the money.

However, the Police Spokesperson assured that the suspects would soon appear in competent court after Police intensive investigation on the matter. (New Telegraph)
