A five-storey building under construction in the commercial city of Onitsha collapsed in the early hours of today, Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
A source disclosed that the incident happened at DMGS junction, close to the popular Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS).
He said: “I was going to work this morning when I saw it. The entire building came down in rubbles.
“I don’t think there were casualties in the building because work was not ongoing on the project this morning.
“The cause of the collapse has not been ascertained, but many bystanders who watched from across the road suspected that it may be as a result of use is substandard materials.”
It was however gathered that the collapse of the building was because of the use of substandard materials.
