Unveiling of the new facility for traveller identification
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Wednesday unveiled the new office dedicated to the processing of Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record.
Keyamo disclosed this in a post on X.com on Thursday, stating that it was a significant step towards enhanced border security, and to facilitate legitimate travel.
He wrote, “Yesterday, along with my colleague, the HM Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, we unveiled the new Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) office at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
“API/PNR are two technical responses to streamline traveler identification management and facilitate border management.”
He added that this development was a product of effective collaboration between government agencies private sector.
He added, “This solution will help to maintain the delicate balance between facilitating cross-border movements and upholding border security.
“It is a product of effective cooperation between government agencies, the private sector and relevant international actors.”
PUNCH reported earlier in May that Keyamo unveiled plans to review agreements Nigeria had entered into with some nations of the world, to ensure local carriers fly international routes without any encumbrances. (The PUNCH)
