The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and cloudiness from Friday to Sunday.
NiMet’s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja,forecast slight dust haze over the northern region on Friday throughout the forecast period.
According to the agency, moderate dust haze with visibility range of 2km to 5km is expected over the North Central.
This is with prospect of cloud patches over hazy skies of Kogi, Benue and Kwara.
“Cloudy morning with intervals of sunshine is expected for the Inland states of the South, and the Coast with chances of localised thunderstorms over parts of Lagos and Ogun.
“Later in the day, localised thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Ogun, Ondo and Oyo.
“Others are Osun, Ekiti, Lagos, Edo, Abia, Imo, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states,” it said.
NiMet anticipated sunny and hazy skies on Saturday over the northern region throughout the forecast period.
According to the outlook, patches of cloud are expected over the hazy atmosphere in the morning over the North Central.
“In the afternoon and evening hours, localised thunderstorms are expected over part of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue states.
“Cloudy morning with intervals of sunshine is anticipated for the Inland of the South, and the Coast with prospects of localised thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Edo, Lagos, Delta, and Bayelsa states.
“Later in the day, localised thunderstorms are expected over parts of Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states,” it said.
NiMet anticipated sunny and hazy atmosphere over the Northern region throughout the forecast period on Sunday.
It envisaged cloudy atmosphere over the North Central region with prospects of localised thunderstorms over parts of Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau and Benue.
“Later in the day, patches of clouds are expected over the North Central.
“Cloudy morning is anticipated over the Inland of the South and the Coast with chances of localised thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Edo, Ogun, Osun, Bayelsa, Delta and Lagos State.
“Later in the day, localised thunderstorms are expected over the entire region,” it said.
NiMet urged the public to take necessary precautions by using face mask as dust particles are in suspension.
It advised people with respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather situation.
“Due to Harmattan and dryness in the air, special attention should be paid to your skin, eyes and lips by keeping them moist as much as possible.
“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it said. (NAN)
