Kano Hisbah operatives
The Commander General, Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has lamented over court freezing of it’s bank accounts following a lawsuit against the board by hotel owners in the state.
Sheikh Daurawa said the development has crippled operations of the board due to the restriction on its bank accounts.
In his words: “Yes, it is true that all of our bank accounts have been frozen. I have sent a representative to meet with the Attorney-General because we were not told about the alleged offence and the basis for the account closures.
“We received a court document alleging misconduct at two hotels, resulting in charges of N700,000 and N100,000 respectively. The document demanded a combined payment of N800,000, leading to the closure of our accounts.
“We should be told about the offence we have committed so that we can ask our lawyers to participate in the discussion. If we fail to defend ourselves, then we will be judged,” the Hisbah Commander General, Sheikh Daurawa said.
Some months ago, the Hisbah operatives had raided some hotels and entertainment places in Kano generated controversy. (Vanguard)
