The Director-General of the World Trade Organizationb(WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; former President of Liberia, George Weah; former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama; andChairman/CEO of Vista Equity Partners, Robert. F. Smith, are some of the high profile individuals listed for honour in recognition of their immense contribution to the advancement of humanity at the second edition of African Heritage Awards (AHA) 2024 which holds on April 13, 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The award, organised by Heritage Times HT, is sequel to the inaugural edition held on April 1, 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda.

The African Heritage Awards is a gathering strategically organised to celebrate and recognise outstanding global accomplishments of Africans within the continent and in the Diaspora in areas of business, politics, philanthropy, entertainment and arts, culture, science and technology and social innovation.

Other recipients include the First Lady of Kenya, Rachael Ruto; Founder and Executive Chairman of International Technology Groups, Econet Global and Cassava Technologies, Mr and Mrs Strive Masiyiwa; Chairman/Managing Partner, Global Infrastructure Partners, Adebayo Ogunlesi; Founder of the Thuli Madonsela Foundation, Prof. Thulisile Nomkhosi Madonsela; Prime Minister of Togo, Victoire Tomegah Dogbe; Managing Director of the Rose of Sharon Group and Executive Vice-Chairman of Famfa Oil Limited, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija; Co-chair of BMCE Bank Foundation, Othman Benjelloun; and Founder of Graca Machel Trust, Mrs Graca Machel.

According to Heritage Times HT, it was expected that this years edition would be more remarkable and historic as it would be chaired by former President of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama Ian Khama, and would be attended by former heads of states and captains of industries across the African continent.

The recognition and awards, according to the organisers, have become imperative to sustainably foster the African culture of excellence, promote Afro-centrism, and create an ecosystem that will further retell the true African story towards the advancement of the continents full potentials.
