By PETER ANOSIKE
A pan-Nigerian pressure group, Equity Movement Turn by Turn, says only Labour Party has the capacity to lift Nigeria out of the woods.
Speaking at a press conference, the National Chairman, Hon. Gaius Ezeh, said that all that the All Progressives Congress (APC), has done since it came to power in 2015 has been to bring untold hardship upon Nigerian masses.
According to him, today, parents are celebrating their children and wards exiting Nigeria, adding that to the youths, the destination does not matter, even if it means dying in the desert or drowning in the Mediterranean Sea.
Hon. Ezeh said that the current reality in Nigeria brings to mind the song by late Sonny Okosuns titled, “Which Way Nigeria?” since observation points to the fact that Nigeria, on a daily basis, was moving into abyss, all thanks to the APC’s corrupt and visionless governance since 2015.
He wondered what would be the future of a country whose work-force are daily on mass exodus to other countries.
“Why do our youths behave this way? Reason is that Nigeria does not present hope of self-actualization through any legitimate career, unless it is politics or crime like Yahoo Yahoo; career in politics is not even available to them in the actual sense since it is the exclusive preserve of political lords, cabals, their children, grand-children and generations yet unborn. Even these cabals that recycle themselves in the leadership of the country do not really call Nigeria a home because they have their homes in USA, Canada, Europe and so on. It is in those places that they build homes for themselves, their children and generations yet unborn.”
Speaking further, he said for the political lords, “Nigeria is nothing but the field for looting and milking.”
According to him, in recent time, the rate of looting has exceeded the rate of generating of resources, adding that what was invoke now is borrowing from all the corners of the globe, sharing and stockpiling debts for those still trapped in Nigeria and their generations unborn.
In his contribution, the Coordinator of Western Region of the group, Pastor Oluwatuse Kolawole Joseph, said that it was not surprising that Labour Party has, from nowhere, suddenly risen to be a party to beat in Nigeria today.
According to Joseph, the magic is neither in the letters nor in the meaning of the name, but rather in the composition of its leadership.
He said that Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion and class, see in the composition of the party’s leadership, dominance of characters who truly believe in Nigeria as a country and were prepared and also capable of making Nigeria once more a home for Nigerians, especially the youths.
Obidients, he noted, are today seen by Nigerian youths as the alternative to the desperate resolve to leave Nigeria and the only hope that Nigeria could possibly become a home again someday.
He said that through Labour Party, they were hoping for a home where commerce and industry could again survive, thrive and prosper like in the days of Dunlop, Michelin, Leyland, Peugeot, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz industries.
“We, the Equity Movement Turn by Turn, are calling on all Nigerians, not just the youths, to join hands in salvaging Nigeria by supporting the Labour Party in every corner of Nigeria in her unshakable resolve to rescue Nigeria and make it a home once more; a place where Nigerian youths can, on graduation, make choices as to where to work, that is either in public or private sector and achieve their life dreams.
“This is worth whatever necessary sacrifices it demands, including our immediate political ambitions. We will be happy we did. It is expected that the Labour Party shall take over all the states that would soon conduct their governorship elections like Edo, Kogi, Bayelsa, Imo and most importantly, Anambra, the home state of the arrowhead of the Labour Party. We must not make any mistake at all. Meanwhile, all eyes are on the judiciary for better Nigeria and Africa in general,” Joseph said.
